In the fall of 2009 I was introduced to CrossFit by a good friend, Chris Truelsen. I remember how passionate he was about this "new" workout routine that was producing results the local "health club" couldn't. I knew he was on to something. I enrolled shortly thereafter at a CrossFit gym, and proceeded to see results much as Chris had. Scheduled classes, friends/members, and the CrossFit community held me accountable. CrossFit has become a favorite passion of mine. I have seen friend after friend achieve fitness levels they had never had before.
As a former competitive athlete, who spent his 20's working, raising a family and eating everything in site I woke up one morning as a 6'3", 364 lb. tired man. The combination of diet, exercise/CrossFit, and hard work, has saved and given me new life! I'm a better husband, father, and friend. CrossFit Prevail is our home to share our passion, knowledge, and real life experience with anyone who is interested. CrossFit is for everyone, regardless of shape, gender or age!!

I had never heard of CrossFit before my husband Brandon started going in Fall 2009. However, when he started going to a CrossFit gym, it was one of the best things that he could have done for his health & to get him back in shape. I will admit, I loved that it was helping him, but I wasn't sure it was the 'right' place for me. I wasn't in horrible shape but by no means was I in amazing shape. I had played sports growing up & considered myself someone who had a great metabolism growing up. Then, I got married & settled into the 'comfort' foods that most newly married couples do---Pasta dishes, macaroni & cheese, fast food, take out, etc. When we got pregnant with our first child I used the excuse that I could eat what I wanted & not worry because I had a great metabolism & it would come off after I delivered our first child. However, I soon learned that most of the weight came off after that but not all of it & boy did my body change! We got pregnant again when our older daughter was 13 months old & I was determined this time not to gain as much weight. I didn't but my body still changed after I delivered her & all of a sudden I had the 'Dreaded Mommy Belly'! :(
Brandon & I decided to start Weight Watchers which was a great thing to kick start our weight loss. I even joined a local fitness center & started working out by doing some of their classes. However, I felt like I was going thru the motions & didn't truly enjoy it. I wanted something else that would push me to achieve some more goals & start getting rid of my Mommy Belly. I decided to join CrossFit & it has been the best decision for me. I like that I am able to become friends with the other members & we hold each other accountable while pushing each other in a positive way. I love that each workout absolutely pushes me to do better than I did the time before & that when I am catching my breath after the work out, it is because I kicked my own butt along with the help of the awesome coaches who pushed me to do just a little bit more each time.
I can't wait to share my knowledge with you & support you on whatever your journey may be & help you reach your goals!

Before joining CrossFit, I grew up playing sports & was very active. I had never owned a gym membership & didn't care what I ate. I heard about CrossFit, but was not interested until one day I needed a change in my life. At the end of 2009, I was around 220lbs & had a bad outlook on things, especially working out. At that point I had NO idea how far it would take me & how much it has changed my life, for the better. Making that choice to join & workout has been one of the best decisions I have made to date. CrossFit not only changed me physically, but mentally. With that being said, I want to help others achieve their goals & hope to inspire them with my love of CrossFit. I am excited to be part of the coaching staff at CrossFit Prevail & willing to help in any way I can.

When I initially heard about CrossFit I thought the same thing most people think. I thought I wasn't in good enough shape & that it just wasn't for me. Although I wasn't really seeing any results, I thought if I just kept running, running, & more running on the treadmill eventually it would work. Thanks to my sister for talking me into joining, I now know that endless hours of running could never provide results like CrossFit. After having 2 children, I had convinced myself that it was ok to be unhappy in my skin. I tried to tell myself that all moms feel this way about their body. CrossFit has helped me to realize that even moms can be strong & fit. Aside from the fitness aspect, it has provided me an atmosphere that is fun, social, & motivating. I am a better mom because of it! I am so thankful I put myself out there & gave CrossFit a chance! It is my hopes that I will be able to share this passion with the community at Prevail!

Throughout high school and college I played softball and was your typical globo gym go-er. I spent many years at the gym seeing little to no results. My brother introduced me to CrossFit back in December 2009 and after graduating from college, I joined the community at CrossFit Fire in May 2010. Ever since that day CrossFit has pushed me to do things I never thought were possible and I’m continuously challenged on a daily basis. I’m not only challenged during my personal work outs, but also coaching others. I enjoy every second I spend in the gym and can’t wait to share this experience with everyone that comes to CrossFit Prevail. The support within those walls and within the CrossFit community is unexplainable. I hope that I can provide the support and encouragement that my coaches and peers have given me over the last year and a half.

CrossFit has changed me in every way, shape & form both physically & mentally. I tell anyone who will listen that I think it is the answer to not only fitness, but overall wellness. Looking & feeling good is great but the best part is the people & friends you will meet along the way. Never would I have thought I would get a chance to coach at a great gym, but I can not wait to help make positive changes in peoples' lives while they change my life along the way too.

I have been a runner since middle school. However, when I first got pregnant 5 years ago, I started walking on the treadmill & using the weight machines at my local globo gym. Despite my best efforts, I gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy. After giving birth to my second child just 18 months later, I was still up 50 pounds. When my youngest turned 1 in December of 2010, I told myself that I needed to do something about my weight. I signed up for a free CrossFit intro class & I haven't looked back. In less than 2 years, I have lost 60 pounds, done my first un-assisted pull-up, ran a half marathon in under 2 hours, & finished a full marathon all thanks to CrossFit!
As a Coach, I want to share my passion for CrossFit and help others to achieve their goals. My CrossFit experience was successful because of the support & encouragement from the CrossFit community & I am excited to join the Prevail Coaching Staff.

Being active has always been a huge part of my life. Even as a little girl growing up with an older brother, I was instantly introduced to sports and playing with the boys. Still to this day I continue to play sports and love competing. Being active has been and always will be a huge part of my life.
After I had my son in ‘08 I picked up running, working out at a local gym, and completed my first marathon in ‘09. I had first heard of CrossFit after completing my marathon but didn’t really look into it at that point. My initial thoughts were what most think, "seems like a cult" so I guess I am just as guilty as the rest for thinking that. As time went by, I was surprised with gift cards for my birthday and mother's day in May '10 to give CrossFit a try. Thanks to Chris for the gifts because I got rid of my globo gym membership and haven’t looked back since.
Obviously my initial thoughts of CrossFit being a “cult” are no longer the feelings I have. I feel bad that I initially thought that but perhaps that helps me see it for what it truly is, a community of family. You don’t know until you try right? I have met some amazing people and love the challenge CrossFit gives me everyday.
I am excited to be a part of the Prevail coaching staff because I want to help and encourage others to achieve their goals in any way I can. I have always loved helping people and I hope I can continue to do so through my passion for CrossFit.

Throughout my childhood I played competitive travel volleyball all the way through college. In the fall of 2009 my fiancé introduced me to CrossFit. Being an ex-college athlete who had lost her way, CrossFit was my gateway back into health and fitness. CrossFit quickly transformed my life for the better; I dropped several pounds and became substantially stronger. Soon I found myself in the best shape I had ever been in and able to lift more than I could have ever imaged. I love CrossFit and can’t picture my life without it! I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge about CrossFit with everyone at CrossFit Prevail.
