Tim and I started at Prevail about a month apart, approximately 2 months after Prevail opened its doors! We typically are at the gym about 5 times per week and generally in the same class a few times a week.  Funny fact… you will most likely not see us partner together for a Team WOD, as once it almost resulted in divorce!  We can be a tad bit competitive with each other!

Member Spotlight

Spotlight on Kendra Kulans!

Congrats Kendra on the honor of October Member in the Spotlight!  You are certainly deserving of this & your dedication to working thru your modifications & scaling is so inspiring to others!  Way to stay focused & now be able to achieve your goals especially squatting & sit-ups!  I have truly enjoyed Coaching you & working out next to you!  Keep it up & I can't wait to see you achieve all the rest of your goals!  Enjoy the prime parking spot - I'm sure the boys will love it! ;)

What is your name?  Kendra Kulans

Any nickname/s you would like to share with us?  Kenny

Current place of employment: Kids Therapy & Bowes Home Health

How long have you been CrossFitting for?  5 years....I think minus 2 - 12 week bedrest stints ;)

How many days a week do you normally CrossFit?  Not as many as I would like....3-4

Biggest CrossFit Accomplishment?  Coming back post partum & being able to squat again :)

Favorite CrossFit exercise/skill to do:  Rope Climbs

Least favorite CrossFit exercise/skill to do:  Snatch

Top Short Term Goal:  String together 10 pull-ups

Top Long Term Goal:  25 Strict Chest to Deck Push-Ups

Favorite time to work out each day:  9:15am

Favorite WOD music:  I love Country music :)

Favorite Healthy Food:  Salads

Favorite Cheat Food: Mexican

If you could have any super power what would it be?  Being invisible so that I can always make sure my kids are safe

If you could describe CrossFit in only 3 words, what would they be?  Healthy, Challenging, Fun

In 10 years where do you hope to be?  A momma of 3 successful boys

Who is/are your biggest CrossFit Supporter/s?  My hubby & kids

If you were trapped on a desert island what 3 things would you bring with you assuming that food, water, & shelter were already provided for?  My phone, my pillow, & my workout stuff

What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear these words:

Fran:  Sucks

WOD:  Is it 8pm yet?

Beach:  Michigan

What is your favorite thing/s about CrossFit Prevail?  I absolutely love the family focus of Prevail!  Being at other boxes I have yet to find one that is so accommodating & family centered!

If there was a 'Kendra WOD' what would it have in it?  Running, Squats, Lunges, DUBS, Rope Climbs

Any tips for a newbie?  Don't be afraid to modify/scale movements.  Just because you can't do it at that particular moment doesn't mean that you will never be able to.  After having Maks I thought I would never be able to squat or do sit-ups again.  I am back to full range movements after having to modify/scale for a long time.  Keep working towards your goals & you will accomplish them!
